Ford Escape dies frequently in hot weather

I have been experiencing this for a while and no one can seem to find an answer. I have a 2002 Ford Escape manual transmission. When the weather is warm/hot, I have problems keeping the car engaged/started when either idling low or at a stop. Engine and Oil light come on and the entire system dies. Once i start it and get it going it runs fine, until I slow to a stop or stop. It didn’t happen all winter which makes me think it has something to do with the temperature of the engine. Not sure , but it’s driving me crazy. for the past several years it has happened infrequently, but now i can count on it at least once a day. could it be the temperature of the engine?? Help!!!

I would be looking at the spark system.

Could also be a dirty/sticky idle air control valve (IACV).
