I have a 2007 ford focus. The hatchback door recently stopped opening with either the dashboard button or the remote button. It will only open with the key. When I press either button, nothing happens, no click or anything. The door ajar light is also on and the trunk light. The car apparently thinks the door is open, but it is closed and latched.
Ive searched for answers online and I haven’t found anything. I thought I would ask around first before taking to the shop, especially since money is scarce and I dont have to fix it immediately. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.
You need to tear apart the harness between the body and the hatchback, probably a broken or shorted wire. I went through a similar situation, and after 3rd inspection finally found the problem and soldered in a patch wire.
