Anyone have any experience or recommendations for a decent fluid extractor? I’m mainly looking for something to use to change transmission fluid without dropping the pan. I’d just be looking at a manual unit, nothing fancy. I don’t suppose I need a top of the line device, as I doubt I’ll use it even once a year, but I don’t want to buy something super cheap that’ll leak everywhere and be a general pain in the butt that I’d regret wasting money on. Thanks.
Do a Google search for Mityvac 7201 or Mityvac 7400 and either of those should meet your needs.
Look for the 12 volt Marine oil extractor at Bass Pro or Walmart.
Cheaply made but cheap to buy, just remember to warm up the fluid so it easily flows
Thank you both. Will look into those.
I used a manual fluid extractor before for transmission fluid and it worked fine as long as it wasn’t the really cheap kind. The low-cost ones tend to lose suction or make a mess. A mid-range unit is usually good enough if you only plan on using it once or twice a year, and it saves you from having to drop the pan. Cleaning it after each use also helps it last longer.
