In addition to the side doors of this Suzuki van appearing to be made of cardboard, the Suzuki’s engine was clearly weaker than the Elephant.
The elephant did not “attack” the car or the people, the elephant had been accustomed to the all the idiots who attract them in close for a Photo Op or a Touchy-Feel by using food and it was only responding to all the “Training” it had received up to that point…
How is this any different than the idiots who go up to Bison (buffalos…) in Yellowstone Park wanting to take a selfie or even give them a Biggo-Hug… In the case of the Bison, they are not being attracted by food, they just want to be left alone…
Yeah, the admonishment to stay away from wild animals is ignored far too often. Fortunately, the people, and the elephant, were not injured.
I could write a book about the stupid people and their antics I have seen while backpacking. This reminded me of the time we saw some bison grazing and this guy and his family were angling for some pictures. He was encouraging his wife and kid to get near them for the ultimate shot. “You know those are wild animals and are unpredictable”. “This is a park, they wouldn’t have dangerous animals in here”. “It’s a WILDERNESS park!”
Watching an episode of Naked and Afraid in Africa, the elephants are quite territorial and try to intimidate any other animal that enters their domain. One of the younger bulls was pushing over trees near their Boma and the guy says about the danger- “he’s pushing over trees, WITH HIS FACE!”
