Exhaust Camshaft Position Actuator Solenoid Valve

Truck runs very rough at idle

I am getting Diagnostic Codes for the PCM Actuator. I have removed the PCM actuator and connected it to a battery source and the solenoid valve clicks but I cannot tell whether or not the spool valve is going from closed to open like it should. Does anyone know what it should look like when you energize the solenoid valve ?
