99 escort just quit running. Doesn’t seem to have a spark. engine turns over and can hear the fuel pump running. Any ideas?
With that much information, there could be a number of problems. You really need to have it towed to a good mechanic who can systematically determine what’s wrong. IF the engine “turns over”, sound normal, and tries to start, you don’t have a broken timing belt. If the sound it makes is different, you could very well have a broken timing belt.
You could also have ignition problems (coil) or a plugged fuel filter.
