Entitled hooligans in Collier County FL

25 performance car drivers block I75 (Alligator Alley) in Collier county, FL. Cars were chased. Cars were impounded. Collier county south of me does the same thing as the Lee county sheriffs. Entitled rectums affecting everyone’s day.

Unfortunately, that seems to be happening all over the US, and impounding the cars of the self-entitled 20-somethings seems to be the only solution. On Long Island, it has gotten so bad that they recently increased the minimum fines and impound fees to… I think… $3k for the first offense. And, I think that the second offense results in forfeiture of the car.

That is extremely disrespectful AND dangerous

The punishment was appropriate, imo

What if someone was late to work . . . and maybe got in trouble or FIRED . . . because they couldn’t drive on the freeway?

Sadly, it’s all part & parcel of being a self-entitled 20-something, I guess.

We have burnout and donut contests in Baltimore at intersections and at least one suburban mall. The perps typically disappear before the police can nab them.

There is also a long, straight country road in Southern Maryland where hoonigans gather for drag racing. The road is little used at night but it’s still wrong. A work friend used to hear them racing at night. It’s been probably 5 years since we talked about it. Maybe the police shut them down.

There is a similar road about 1/2 mile from my house. It isn’t exactly straight and it certainly is not “country” road but one side has a long stretch of sound wall and the other side is a neighborhood. Thursday nights seemed to be racing night. More than a few accidents punching out the sound walls.

Did I miss something? The only age mentioned in the article was a driver, aged 49. A quick Google search of another driver (Rashed) indicates he’s in his 60s.

Yes, not just 20 somethings…included entitled older people too!

My question was rhetorical.

Good. Around here when there’s a street takeover the police wring their hands and run away. And when they do try to do something they get hit with lawsuits about endangering the attendees.

As far as I’m concerned, if a police cruiser runs over someone at one of these events, it’s a logical consequence.

How perfectly wonderful of you to mention that! :slightly_smiling_face:

In Albuquerque we see motorcycles doing this, circling intersections, doing doughnuts.

The legal system in this country needs a SERIOUS overhaul, imo

Attendees of an illegal street takeover SUING the police . . . that’s absolutely outrageous

And that relates to criminals blocking traffic how?

And it is called history for a reason, nothing anyone can do to change what happened 500 years ago… No matter how you want to swing it… What’s next, complaining about the animals that didn’t make it on to the Ark??? What about the cavemen that ruled the land before that??? gezzz…

IIRC they were rebels. Hooligans as a term didn’t come into play until around the 1890’s. Just a thought.

…Well, we are having a rash of folks who are busy thumbing their noses at any RULE OF LAW.

Some in their 50s, 60s, and even approaching 80. Maybe the 20-somethings think this is now OK?

Not Maryland, but in the general DC area.

Some are known to take off for their Florida hide-a-way to avoid the heat (cold).

“See you in court” is the only rational response.

I was in Syracuse NY visiting relatives a couple years back and ran across about 50+ kids on dirt bikes weaving in and out of traffic…running red-lights…cutting people off…kicking cars as they drove by. It’s been on for a while now and the police have been powerless to stop them. Videos show Illegal motorbikes taking over Syracuse streets

Wasn’t that also a problem in New York city as well? Motorcycles and quads?

Much harder to apprehend than car drivers.

It’s happened in Nashville also, I saw it happen in person a few time while working downtown… Stupid dangerous…

This happened back in 2019, we had already closed that shop after it sold for BIG money for a skyscraper… smh…
They would start out around lower Broadway (riverfront part) and work there way up to the interstate (I24/I40) at 13th ave, then hit the interstate for a short trip to the next exit…
