Engine knocking when its cold

You have been advised by several people to switch to the proper oil. Do that first.

You stated your car has been doing this for four years. Doesn’t seem like something to worry about now. Using the correct viscosity oil might help, or a “high mileage “ oil of the correct viscosity.

As far as I know those only help if there are oil leaks.

Thanks everybody for help. I changed the oil and used 5W-40 but had no effect.

Shouldn’t you be using 5W-20?

Stop it! The correct oil is 5w-20. Where the hell did you get the idea to use 5w-40? That oil has more viscosity improvers than lubricants!

Oh my god. The mechanics are not expert. Shout I change it?

@ate6810_173233 You are not really trying to solve this problem . You have had this knock for years and you can’t seem to look in your manual for the correct oil . Either just keep doing what ever you are doing , have a shop look at it for a fee or replace this thing with a better vehicle.

A month and 68 posts with no result or progress . I am out of here.

Sounds like valve train. Knock would be a heavier sound. Something is ticking and is loose. Don’t do anything until you purchase a repair manual.
