I have a 2005 Chevy Malibu. Recently, the remote stopped working on the door locks (still works for the trunk). I replaced the battery and checked the circuitry on the board the battery attaches to. The remote appears to be fine. Also, my power mirrors have stopped working. I think that this may be an electrical problem, and that changing the fuses might work. Does anyone else have an idea?
Have you checked the fuses?
You need to get the car to an automotive electrician. The problem with the mirrors may be the mirror switch, itself. Maybe.
There is a remote signal receiver, in the car, which sends the demand, “operate door locks”, to the door lock solenoids. The signal may not be received by the receiver, or, the receiver’s demand isn’t getting to the door lock solenoids. An automotive electrician can, through troubleshooting, determine which. (Too many other types of mechanics can’t do electrics/electronics.)
