I have an 03 Acura which in far from home
at the moment. the car hs just begin to crank and start
more slowly, and often the radio gets
interrupted power, requiring me to restart
by inserting a code.
Could it be a failing battery? I believe the battery is originial–or at least 4 yrs old
My concern is the 1500 miles seperating me from home
any suggestions?
thanks in advance
John
If it is original, the battery is 5 years old. Batteries become suspect after 3. Get the battery tested.
thanks
does this sound like a dying battery? loss of cranking power and intermittent failure
even though it stops radio from working, the clock runs, so it is not a complete failure
Slow cranking and loss of ability to crank is normally a bad battery. Just get it tested to know for sure. Most places test for free.
Likely the battery if it is over three years, but cables that need cleaning is another possibility. Try removing both ends of the battery cables (both of them) and cleaning both the cable and where it goes very well and reattaching making sure they are secure.
