Doing repairs on my M5R2 transmission, which is still bolted in and connected to the drive shaft, etc., but I’ve got the top of the transmission off.

Here’s my question: Can I just pour transmission oil right into the transmission from the top after draining it, instead of using a hand pump to fill it through the fill plug?

Sure!

Just remove the plug from the fill hole and add oil until it starts to run out of the fill hole. Then reinstall the plug.

Absolutely. Tester is right. I’ve done it that way for years especially if the tranny is on the bench.
