Clunky, dragging sound from back of Camry, esp. when braking
I’ve tried to fill in the discussion title multiple times, it won’t let me.
I have a 2000 Camry, suddenly made a dragging sound today. It literally sounded like, perhaps a pipe (or something much bigger) was dragging behind the car. I expected to get out and see some part hanging off the back. It then subsided and all that was left was a very heavy, clunky sound, almost grinding when I brake. Any idea what this could be?
It’s Sunday. I can’t reach my mechanic yet… Is it safe to drive, locally, for a day?? There is no smell or apparent disability, but the sound is so alien and “heavy” …
Look under the vehicle and see if one of the rear stablizer bar end links are broken. If there is, it can lean against the inside of a rear wheel and cause a dragging sound along with a clunking sound.
