I have a 2002 Dodge Grand Caravan EX and recently the battery went dead. After replacing it I noticed the needle on the speedometer was positioned below the holding post at the zero point. Went the key is turned on the needle jumps counterclockwise till it hits the post just below the 0 position and will not go any further. I believe this is an electrically operated gauge. I don’t know how this happened or how to correct it. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated
Did you get this fixed yet?? It’s only a few months later, I know. It is an electronic guage. A small motor behind the guage itself is what’s there. It is commanded from the TCM to the BCM to the IPC. They talk on a CCD buss line. Most of the time with a scanner you can actuate the guages to corect the problem. The only other thing I can think of is when you hooked up the battery it spiked the system and the needle hit the stop so hard that the needle repositioned itself on the guage pin.
