I have a 2003 Chrysler PT Cruiser Touring Edition. I will be taking a trip on the Auto Train in May, and Amtrak recommends disabling the alarm prior to the trip (so that it doesn’t go off as a result of the loud sounds from the carriers slamming together due to slack running in and out of the train). So how do you disable (and subsequently re-enable) the factory alarm?
There’s a handy book the dealer gave you called the owner’s manual. If it is easily done, that should spell it out for you. Some cars have the alarms as a dealer-added option. Then, there is always a supplement to the owner’s manual the dealer will include. If you have neither, please consult the dealer.
Ask your dealer, it may just be a fuse you need to pull.
