I am planning on buying a 91 Olds Achieva but I found out that the dashboard goes out often. It is a digital speedometer and all. So you cannot see anything, and in order to get it back it the dash needs to be banged on. What could be the diagnosis? and if possible how much is it? or where can I find the answer?
Get a quote from the dealer for part alone. Don’t be surprised if the cost is the same as your purchase price or at least half.
I would move on.
The problem could be with a poor connection at the harness that plugs into the display pod. Which would require removal of the display pod to check that out. Or there’s a problem within the display pod itself. Which would require replacement of the pod with maybe one from an automotive recycling yard.
