Detroit Axle lower control arms

See, and I though Moog always had a good reputation.
Don’t know what the heck to do now?

May not go straight to my application, but these Mevotech look pretty heavy duty.
Any experience with Mevotech?

I’ve used both Mevotech and Moog several times

I feel Moog products are superior . . . but make sure you get the regular Moog products, not the cheapo parts

in fact, I prefer Moog over factory parts

Moog are about $50.00 each.

Looks like the
moog ck80538/ moog ck80539 are the top of the line.
RK prefix is the cheaper one.
CK line is ~$100.00 each.

I know, you get what you pay for, cry once and all that, I just wasn’t looking to spend $100 per side.

I don’t know what to do.
I don’t have unlimited amounts of money it’s not that I’m necessarily cheap.
Plus it wouldn’t be so bad if I had access to my tools and a place to work right now well I can work here but it’s also middle of winter it’s mostly the tools but as it sits right now I’d have to pay to have them put in. :frowning:

I’ve been reading mostly good about the Mevotech, supreme.

You are saying the Detroit Axle tie rods you bought where worn out in just over a year. It’s very possible the castle nut was over torqued or there was too much grease injected in them.
I learned the hard way that tie rod ends are only to be greased lightly until it just starts to swell. Grease shouldn’t be leaking out in just a couple years. Even mid grade components last me at least 100k miles.
I own jeeps and on my 02 WJ I prefer Moog parts over Mopar OEM.

I’ve also had good experiences using Mevotech and Delphi on suspension/steering components.

Delphi has good ignition coils.
Bussmann and Littlefuse for fuses, circuit breakers and fuse blocks.

I’ve used Dorman on things like lug nuts, sway bars, clutch fan blades to great success.
I only use OEM sensors and ECM’s.

But my vote is using Moog for all suspension parts, they are beefier and better than OEM when considering the price, reliability and longevity.

Mevotech and Moog have low end and high end lines of parts. You will do well to distinguish from the two. MOOG has been around a very long time and they have carried a very good reputation among Jeep owners and mechanics.

Brands I’ve had a bad experience with are:
Monroe Shocks (mid grade line)
Gabriel shocks (heavy duty line) they didn’t last as long as high end shock brands like Rancho or Blistein.

Another way to save money and time is to find who makes the OEM part and buy from another supplier that sells that brands part.
For example my 02 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4.7L has a OEM radiator that costs $400+ on Mopar sites. Denso is who makes my Jeeps OEM radiators and I found it online for $160 shipped by manufacturer on a 3rd party website on discount. An OEM radiator in my Jeep lasts 13 years while a aftermarket one usually doesn’t make it past 6 years unless you get one of the top 5 radiator brands or OEM. Obviously this includes changing your coolant out every 3-5 years depending on ratio and type of antifreeze.

How did it go, what was your decision and how long did it last?

I will default to Amazon for that reason. I have no issues with them, you can choose from many aftermarket suppliers as well as OEM parts if you prefer. And in many cases, the parts are here the next day for me unless they choose USPS. I just wish I had more influence on the shipper selection but that goes for all online purchases…
