So this problem came out of nowhere. When I depress brake pedal, dash lights and center console light come on as if I turned the car lights on. Borth brake and third light come on as normal to. Exterior parking lights and headlamps do not when depressed, so it’s only triggering inside.
I checked a couple of fuses and everyrthing seem ok. I have no damn clue what else it is. Car is 2006 Hyundai Tucson.
Any changes to the original wiring or electrical devices - anything spliced in? If so, check those connections.
Yeah it has a remote starter.
I looked under the dash and noticed a cable is cut and open, and using my remote starter now doesn’t work, car turns on then turns off. Dash light also flash.
I’ll have to give that cable another look and see.
Hoping that’ll get to the bottom of it. Best wishes. I have had to revisit my under-dash splices enough to commiserate!
Yeah hopefully!
Altough I don’t understand how it go cut. My hood pin cable was cut but that was like 3 months ago and remote starter still working no problem after that.
Also something odd happened same night it started, my cruise control would light up but setting a speed would not work. And about 5 mins later my ESC OFF light stayed on and did not go away until I restarted the car.
Plenty of gremlins can get in when the factory electricals are disturbed.
If the remote starter was installed using Scotchloc connectors, I’d say one of those “cut” your wire. These things are horrible and should never come near any car, truck, boat or trailer wiring!
Doesn’t look like it.
So turns out the cable that is cut is the hood pin so that’s fine.
Also interesting, if I turn on my lights then the cruise control does not set and ESC is off after about 5 mins. But keeping my lights off everything works no issues, except the light come when brake.
