The automatic transmission failed in my 2002 Honda recently and I had it replaced at the local Honda dealer. When the dealer was delivering the car (about 7 miles), the new transmission ran out of fluid and was towed back to the dealer. Dealer re-attached a hose, refilled with fluid, and gave it back to me.
Question: Did this transmission sustain any damage and thus should I request that it be replaced?
Yes. If the transmission ran out of fluid, it would have been slipping before it ran out. When an automatic starts slipping, it is destroying the friction elements and creating excessive heat. They screwed up and they need to make good on it.
