Crossover AUV towing AWD va Fwd

Front the Highlander owners manual;

If the gross trailer weight is over 2000 lb. (907 kg), a sway control
device with sufficient capacity is required.

You can view Toyota owners manuals online;

So your contradicting yourself. First youā€™re saying it canā€™t tow 2000lbs now youā€™re saying it can.

I believe the tow ratings are legitimate, why do you guys believe AWD is necessary? If the front wheel drive and AWD Highlanders are rated to tow 5000# they should be just as capable.

This is the front wheel drive Highlander towing chart;

*1: These models meet the tow-vehicle trailering requirement of SAE International
per SAE J2807.
*2: The model code is indicated on the Certification Label. (ļ‚®P. 639)
*3: Without a towing package
*4: With a towing package

Toyota 5000lbs may say towing with fwd may be fine. But Iā€™ve towed enough over the past 40 years to know Iā€™d never do it. No way no how.

yes, pulling the boat out of the water on a steep boat launch ramp will be tricky. If you have a wet surface, or sandy surface you will have traction issues. The front wheels are ā€œunloadedā€ due to the trailer tongue weight. In general FWD is not good for towing. For pulling a loaded boat up a steep launch ramp, it is even worse.
