I have a 2002 Mustang convertible and the top is stuck in the down position and will not close. Any suggestions?
There is an electric motor that needs to run to put the top up. Do you hear it running, but the top isn’t moving? There are several interlocks to prevent putting the top up at inappropriate times. The car needs to be in “Park” and not moving when you hit the button to put the top up.
Not to sound trite, but have you checked the fuses?
It might help to stop by the Ford dealer’s part department and ask for an exploded view drawing of the convertible top system, and if you’re willing to get deeper perhaps even the schematics. The parts guys will generally print one for you if you ask nicely, and it can make troubleshooting far, far easier.
