I am having trouble putting gas into my empty fuel tank on my subaru outback. I was told I may have a clogged fuel vent. Is this something I can fix myself?
It depends on whether you can access the filler neck. Todays filler necks sometimes contain an inner plastic tube that the gas goes down and the vapor is allowed to escape back up the outside pipe…They also can have an anti-siphon ball-check valve blocking the pipe that can jam and cause problems. Usually the filler neck must be removed and inspected to determine the problem. Sometimes the entire tank must be removed to get access to the problem…Nothing is standardized, all cars are different…Good Luck.
