So if you can’t be competitive, don’t even bother . . . ?
Makes me think of GM and Ford, because they quit making minivans a few years back
Perhaps that was also a smart business decision . . . ?

What money? They were extremely cash strapped at the time. They needed Fiat to infuse millions of dollars just to survive.
The small car market is the least profitable. Too bad they couldn’t keep it going. Poor decisions and poor economy.
The only recent Chrysler Co. car that I thought was good is the 300, and it’s heavily based on a prior model Mercedes E class. Any others?
No, db, if you can’t be competitive in one area, you move your focus to an area where you can excel.
Fiat bought Chrysler to have a dealer network for their cars. That implies Chrysler has some cars and trucks that are popular enough to give them the large dealer network they seek. The 300, Charger, Challenger, Jeeps and trucks provide that network. The car lineup also has plenty of holes that could be filled with Fiat products.
Jt, I agree.
Beyond that, my guess is that they plan to replace the unprofitable car lines with Fiat products.
