Chevy suburban engine hot a/c turned off

I have an ongoing issue with the dash warning “engine hot a/c turned off”. When this happens, the engine light is on and the temp gauge does not function (stays flat on the left). This started right after I had the transmission replaced (don’t know if this could be relevant). Been back to the shop 3x - replaced the thermostat - then flushed the coolant system (no leaks). After each visit the car is good for a dozen miles or so. But then the same problem reoccurs. The engine is NOT overheating. Any ideas???

Sounds like you have a plan.

Maybe that new transmission is overheating?

Sounds like a faulty engine coolant temp sensor to me. What’s the fault code and stored data say?
