Chevy Cobalt no A/C

My A/C in my 2009 Chevy Cobalt stopped working this spring, and Bob and my repair shop thought it needed a new expansion valve. Seven weeks, more than a dozen expansion valves and much frustration later, he has come to the conclusion that someone put coolant with sealant in the system, and the only way to fix it is to replace the entire system, which I will never have money for. Bob has repeatedly flushed the system, replaced several parts, replaced the expansion valve, and even replaced the rubber in the hoses, but now he has given up on it.

Is there any way to get this stuff out of the system without replacing the whole thing?

@Tippygirl

“someone put coolant with sealant in the system”

It’s not possible to put coolant . . . aka antifreeze into the AC system

I believe you may be using the wrong terminology

Perhaps you meant “refrigerant with sealant” ?

Are you serious about a dozen expansion valves; or even half a dozen? If so, you need to find another shop.
