Similar happened to me.
Years ago I was listening to a cassette critiquing my playing Bach’s Toccata & Fugue in F major, BWV 540.
A hospital called for an emergentransport.
The cordless phone rang in the same key as the organ music and I did not hear it.
Luckily I noticed the light connected to the telephone line turn on.
On last night’s (10.6.23) Johnny Carson (Tonight Show) re-run from the 1980’s, guest Erma Bombeck’s intro music was Bach’s Minuet in G. Its one of my favorites but surprised to hear it b/c don’t recall ever hearing that as a guest’s intro music before.
Trying to think of what would be more appropriate for Erma.
Never liked that piece and refused to play it.
Learned this joyful, complex, rhythmic “Gigue” Fugue of Bach for people who hate organ music.
BWV 577
Would also put me to sleep. Piano teacher angry that I refused to learn it.
There is a Bach organwork that I dislikenoughoto (dislike enough not to) learn.
But everything else is fantastic.
