I have a 2000 ford focus that sometime won’t start right after you turn it off. It will start after it sits awhile but sometimes won’t start again when it’s been turned off for just a few minutes. It doesn’t turn over, dead silence>
Has it done this on a cool day after a short trip or does it tend to do this with a hot engine one a warm - hot day? How long has it been doing it? Is the tank full or close to empty?
When you say it does not start, does the starter turn over the engine or is it just dead?
The problem may be with the safety switch and its location depends on what kind of transmission you have. If you have a AT try shifting to neutral and see if that makes a difference.
The problem may also be with the starter solenoid but you should hear at least a click noise if that was the case.
