Car stalls

I just bought a 2004 Hyundai Elantra with 67000 miles. My mechanic checked it out and made only one recommendation - flush the transmission fluid which was done before I bought it. I test drove it and it seemed fine. However, since I bought it the car stalls when I approach a stop sign and step on the brake quickly. It starts right up after that. What is causing the car to stall? It doesn’t happen all the time, but at least once a day. I have had the car for 5 days.

did you FLUSH or CHANGE the transmission fluid?

Does this sound familiar: http://www.cartalk.com/content/columns/Archive/1997/May/04.html

While I recommend that you don’t get any more transmission flushes. Automatic transmissions need to be changed and their filter cleaned. Flushing is just as likely to cause problems as prevent them.

However if the gods are on your side, you can have someone take a good look at all the vacuum lines and I suspect they will find one loose, disconnected or split.
