I have a Toyota 1999 Rav 4 and I am hearing popping noises when I make sharp turns. I just got my CV joints fixed last week from the dealer and the noise started afterwards. What do you think it is?
I think it is the CV joints and you have to take it back. They probably installed whole new axle units (with 2 CV joints each on them). Those were probably rebuilt axles (halfshafts, actually) as this is the norm. Rebuilt halfshafts these days are often bad right out of the box. I have had way too many experiences with that.
I agree. Dependable rebuilt parts are a thing of the past. You would think that technology has improved but it’s gone the other way.
