2005 Ford Focus key is stuck in ignition. I can start and shut off the car fine but key will not come out.
The key stuck in the ignition can be due to several things.
- Try pulling on the steering wheel while wiggling the key.
- The shifter may not be completely in park. Try turning the key to the #2 position, pull the shift lever out of park, and returning it to park by moving it fast and hard, also wiggling it once it is back in park.
- If none of the above work, your ignition switch is in need of replacement.
Also, contact Ford to see if they have any history of this or possibly any recall.
this sounds like the car isn’t in park all the way, ah give an exta umph when putting it in park.
"3. If none of the above work, your ignition switch is in need of replacement. "
It seems much more likely the problem would be the ignition lock than the ignition switch. (They are two different things.)
