Hi everyone! GREAT community here! So many of you with great knowledge + helping each other. Im happy to be here, except that I have a problem.
My 2020 Chevy Trax SUV is a little jerky in this one specific way; when Iâm at a stoplight the light turns green, so i remove my foot from the break and before I step on the gas, the car jerks a little bit and just for a second. Itâs not extreme but itâs noticeable. I donât even mind it but im just worried there might be a bigger problem. The car is not jerky at any other time. Strange. Any ideas what the issue could be??
It could be your engine restarting before you move away.
The stop-start systems are supposed to save gas but rarely are they seamless.
+1 to Mustangmanâs comments.
Question for the OP:
Does your engine seem to be unusually silent while youâre sitting at that traffic light?
If the answer is âyesâ, thenâas Mustangman impliedâyour vehicleâs auto stop/start feature is probably âactiveâ.
There is a button somewhere on your dashboard that allows you to cancel this featureâtemporarily. Unfortunately, you canât turn that feature off permanently, and you have to remember to push the button after each time that you start the engine.
If you donât want to bother paging through your Ownerâs Manual, here is a generic image of what that button looks like, although its location varies from one make/model to another.
Hmmm. I donât seem to have a stop/start option, at least not that i see in the ownerâs manual.
Just watch the tachometer when you stop at a light. If it goes to zero without you turning off the car, you have Stop/Start.
There isnât a button somewhere on your dashboard or your center console, with the symbol that I posted a pic of earlier? IIRC, the Trax may have that auto stop/start âdisableâ button on the center console.
