That’s one way to look at it. The other way is that dirt can buildup in the tank and is NEVER EVER removed unless you drop the tank.
Again, sell it. Get a 60s-to early 70s vehicle. Seems a Blaser or Jimmy would suit your need. Plenty of aftermarket parts for the SBC engines, might want to go to a roller cam. Add a high performance transmission, good to go.

Things might be very different in your neck of the woods, but I can tell you that in The Northeast, those vehicles began disappearing from the roads by the '80s, due to really severe rust issues. I can’t remember the last time that I saw one in the Northeast, due to their catastrophic rust problems. More than likely, in Indiana (where I think Rick lives) those vehicles also disappeared long ago.
Unfortunately that is true, rust got them. Can be found on consignment dealership site, but usually for many dollars.
What I find interesting, in the 50s, a 3 passenger, two wheel drive pickup, with non-limited slip differential, was fine for driving off road on a farm, but now requires a nine passenger, four wheel drive, with locking diffs, vehicle to accomplish the same task.
Why do you think Rick needs an all-terrain vehicle? Is he a prospector? He bought a Yukon, a rather common vehicle to travel back and forth to work.
SUVs are common modes of transportation in the modern world, those people don’t live on farms. You drive a truck for what reason?
Does anyone need a reason these days to drive a truck. I know many people who own pickups and very few of them have ever hauled anything more than groceries in the back.
That is my point, comparing modern SUVs to Purebred’s (former) CJ5 or a farm truck is ridiculous. Modern vehicles serve multi purposes and are not dedicated to one task.
Dave that type of locking cap doesn’t work with our capless system.. been there done that.
