Can i trust my luggage rack?

hey guys. I ended up buying a rack that slid into my trailer hitch, and only carried my fishing rods on the luggage rack. it held them fine. thanks for your input tho, it was appreciated

Using a ladder inspect the bars for looseness and missing fasteners. If all looks good then you should have no problems.

I did all that. the rack seems structurally sound. I may use it in the future if I get I cargo box. it was just easier to use a rear rack. my shoulders aren t so good these days. @rattlegas, this is an old thread, I was just letting the people who advised me know how things turned out. thanks tho.

If your car has gutters above the windows, latching some bungee cords under them might help. I had an '80 citation that I was able to do that with, if memory serves. On big stuff I recall leaving windows open and running ropes under the roof on the inside all the way around things on the outside.

On an old Citation those bungee cords likely added significantly to roof stiffness and rollover protection. I so wanted those to be good cars. Nice size, attractive, clean styling, reasonable prices. What a disappointment. Who would have guessed the dull K-Cats would be so much better. And that Chrysler would be coming up with variants for a decade.
