Can a defective air compressor cause a pulley malfunction

I have been waiting for the pulley to be replaced and was just informed that the air compressor put in last July was defective. The compressor is being replaced because it’s under warantee but I’m wondering if a defective air compressor could have caused the pulley to break.

Sure. If the compressor causes enough resistance…it can cause damage to both the pulley and the drive belt.

Which pulley? The compressor pulley? yes. The tensioner pully idler pulley, alternator? probably not.
