Just replaced the Compressor on my 94 camry 2.2L. At the moment I have a shorter belt installed to bypass the compressor. Can I safely drive it if I put the original belt on to get the system recharged.
Before you start up that new compressor, was it replaced because the pulley bearing failed? Or because the compressor itself failed?

Then you’re good to go. Just put the right belt on so the compressor is hooked up and drive it to the AC shop. The compressor won’t operate without a refrigerant charge. Besides, why pay them the extra labor to install the correct belt?
