Camry Won't Start

Out of the blue, my 95 Camry would not start this morning. Instead it makes a loud clicking noise. Maintenance is up to date - no previous problems. Battery is ok. Any clues?

How do you know the battery is OK. At this point it would be good to get a volt meter on it and see what the voltage is with everything turned off (It should be just over 12V and see what the voltage does as you turn the key. Are you sure noting was left on when you turned the car all last, like maybe a trunk light. How old is that battery?

Try removing both ends of the battery cables (both of them) and cleaning both the cable and where it goes very well and reattaching making sure they are secure.

Checking the battery was my first thought. It’s newer and connections are very clean. All lights etc work fine. The noise is loud, like a rapid ratta-tat. It doesn’t dissapate.

Battery is dead. There’s enough power to run all the other stuff for a while, but not enough to crank the starter. Get a jump start then have your charging system checked(make sure it’s putting out 13-14+ volts)when the car is running. If the charging system is fine, you left something on, or the battery needs to be replaced
