my cars auto tranny will shift manually but stays stuck in lower gear if in overdrive position. Plus speedometer does not register. What could this be/

If you give us the year, model of this car, if the Check Engine Light is lite, and/or the Over Drive light is blinking, we might be able to help you better. Most likely you have an transmission management computer which requires a signel from the Vehicle Speed Sensor to operate. Since the same sensor sends a signel to the engine management computer which sends the signel to the speedometer, the lack of operating speedometer means that the VSS is most likely at fault. If this transmission is computer controlled, a transmission technician can check the computer for codes and verify the lack of signel. Most likely the problem is with the sensor although it could be a wiring/connector problem.
