One of the lugs on the front of my 4WD 1999 Toyota Tacoma pickup is broken. Can I replace it by removing the brake caliper and pounding out the stud? Or do i need to remove the caliper?
Would appreciate any help… thanks!
You’re gonna have to remove everything to install the new stud anyway. Unless you know specifically why that stud broke and it doesn’t affect the others you may want ot replace them all. If it’s because you over torqued the stud then you should replace them all and invest in a torque wrench. It’ll be $25 (Sears) well spent.
Besides, I would not want to submit my bearings to the level of pounding it’ll take to drive the old stud out.
