my car is a 2003 mazda tribute, it’s been for the most part reliable but there is always something going on with it. This morning i started the car and it took a couple of try’s to turn on, and when i took it out of park into reverse it started moving really quickly as soon as i took my foot off the brake. It never goes that fast but it was immediate. I kept driving and it wanted to go really fast, i was going 45 and it kept trying to go faster even when my foot wasn’t on the gas. when i try to brake it takes forever and lurches towards before it stops, even when i have my foot all the way down on the brake. It sounds super loud as well from outside and when you tap the breaks it squeaks. I don’t know what to do i know like nothing about cars… it someone could help that would be great
There might be a problem with the Idle Air Control Valve.
The IAC valve controls the engine idle speed whenever the accelerator isn’t being depressed. These can sometimes go to the wrong position or get stuck causing the engine to idle at a high RPM.

First, check your floor mat to make sure it isn’t laying on top of your gas pedal. If that isn’t the problem, you need to have the car towed to a well rated independent auto repair shop so they can find out what is wrong.
Welcome to the forum, we will be glad to try to help you repair the issue, but from your wording and you also stating that you know nothing about cars, I am going with Mustangman’s recommendation of letting a pro shop repair your vehicle…
If you are truly asking for help in repairing it yourself, and willing to buy some basic tools, then we will have some suggestions as well as questions for you…
Do you have a check engine light (CEL/MIL) on the dash while the engine is running?? If so then you need to go to an auto parts store and let them do a code scan and either get a print out or take a pic of the screen or write it down…
Have you had any under hood work done on the car recently??
Let us know…
