I have brand new car, 1 month old with 2500km.
Since yesterday, everytime i press brake pedal, i hear this sound:
What could this be? Should i take car to maintenance?

With a brand-new car, with multiple warranties, why would you hesitate to take it back to the dealer if you have any issues with it?
I don’t know of any brand of new vehicle that does not have a warranty . Now would be a good time time to open your owners manual and you will know what is covered and for how long.

1st call is to the dealer…
Your foot is pretty high on the pedal and it looks like the tip of your shoe might be catching something under the dash, cause something popped…
Try doing the same thing with your foot much lower on the pedal…
The other noise (like air) sounds normal to me…
Is the engine running in the video??

We can guess what the squeak (wheeze?) is but you shouldn’t go into the dealer and report what we say. Just ell them what the problem is and demonstrate it for them. If they say they can’t hear it ask to try another new car on the lot to see if it does the same thing. The sound is high frequency and that’s the first part of the hearing spectrum to go as we age. An older employee may really not hear it. You might also ask for someone else to listen to it. Get a receipt that shows your complaint and their evaluation no matter what they find.
Well, I guess i will have to call the dealer tomorrow to book the inspection then.
The reason why I am hessitating is because i bought the new car mainly because i wanted a car that does not need mehanic every 6 weeks (like my 15 year old Kia did)…
But yeah, it’s a new car with warranty. If the sound will persist tomorrow morning while taking daily commute, ill call the dealer.
What ever this new mystery vehicle is you need to have it on record that you heard a noise that you don’t think should be there. Even if it does not happen all the time. That way it will be on the dealers records in case it gets worse.
Yes, the engine is running.
I tried doing it with foot in lower position and the sounds remain.
The air sound is normal of course, but the high pitch noise is not.
lol … as you’ve discovered, even buying a new car doesn’t guarantee no more visits to the repair shop. If you inform us the make/model you bought, you might get some heads-up on known problems.
I’m not able to listen to the sound you posted , but high pitched squeaks when pressing on the brake pedal could mean the new brakes pads haven’t properly bedded in (adjusted to) the new disc’s surface. If that’s the case your dealership shop should be able to do that task for you. Does the sound seem to be coming from outside near a wheel, or from under the dash near your foot?
Take another look/listen to the video. It’s quite obvious that the vehicle is not moving.
Do you really expect George to read anything or listen to a video before he posts ?
The car is Ĺ koda Scala.
Update: the sound doesnt appear in the first 10-15 minutes of using car…After 10 minutes it re-appears and it doesnt go away.
I have booked car dealer tommorow. Hopefully, it will be resolved without much hastle.
After all, the car is new.
I presume you didn’t read what I said above :
My Lexus IS brake squeaks all the time despite the pads and rotors were installed on the 4/11/23 at 50k miles. The car currently has 66k miles.
It squeaks when the car sits overnight and when I’m stationary at stop lights.
Brought it in to the dealer twice and they didnt understand why it squeaks because everything seemed fine to them, such as proper installation of the pads and rotors.
They advised that I drive it that way until, hopefully, it stops squeaking. Doesn’t seem it will.
Sorry you are having squeak issue on your Lesus. I guess I’ve been lucky, never had a single brake squeak problem in 50+ years of driving. I don’t know why, I don’t buy anything special like oem or expensive shoes or pads, just the middle-price of whatever they have at the parts store, but i don’t buy the least expensive of their line either. I presume your Lexus dealership installs only oem brake parts, which means your squeaks must forever remain a mystery I guess . My theory for no squeaks is that I’m pretty gentle on the brakes. But I have no theory why more aggressive braking would cause squeaks either.
The squeaking feels like cutting a rock with a sharpened knife. That’s how it feels on the brake when gently and slowly releasing the brake from being stopped at a stop light.
The brakes were installed at Toyota instead of Lexus. Maybe this is why? Maybe the pads are different from that of Lexus pads ?
You do realize that the person who started this does not have a Lexus or a Toyota ?
hmmm … Maybe the disc surface heats up enough in normal braking to harden the steel, resulting in the squeak when it contacts the pad. I presume your car has an automatic transmission, this configuration can put a little more stress on the braking system parts maybe. The counter-argument is I get no squeaks on my truck which has an automatic. But the truck uses drum brakes, which might not get as hot as disc brakes.
Posting about a Lexus and a old truck with drum brakes is really going to be beneficial to someone in Europe with a Skoda vehicle. Not !!
Brake growl while moving slowly with cold brakes is normal on your Lexus, don’t waste your time and money trying to change that.
