Brake and battery lights blinking in unison

Both my brake and battery lights flashed on my dash board. Both at the same time and not one without the other. This happened for a few minutes and now they’re both off…any clues as to why?

This usually means that the brushes in the alternator are worn out.

You don’t say the year of the vehicle, but on some the brushes can be replace without replacing the alternator.

It’s a 1999 3.2 TL with 178,000 miles and the alternator was replaced about 5 years ago. I don’t think I’ll be driving it to work tomorrow - 53 miles. Frustrating because I just picked it up from the dealer yesterday, they replaced a sensor and sub-wires along with an engine mount. I’ll have to take it to a local mechanic because the dealers an hour away, doubt I’d make it.

The Denso alternator that may be on that vehicle has often had issues with intermittant no charge. Does it have a round, 4 pin connector in the rear? If so it is difficult to diagnose on or off the vehicle. If the wires are all in order it might be wise to replace the alternator.
