I drive a 1997 Chevy Blazer LS, 4 door, 4 wheel drive, automatic. I am wanting to know if there is any place that I can purches a Bigger Fuel Tank. I ask this because of the gas prices and I drive this vehicl every day.
So by “because of gas prices” you mean so you can buy more gas when it’s cheaper? In order to do that effectively you will need a several hundred gallon holding tank and a pump, which can be purchased at a farm supply company.
Unless you’re having trouble with running out of gas, a bigger vehicle tank is only going to save you a marginal amount of time. Full-size Chevy pickups used to have a two gas tank option, which if this were an older Blazer would probably not be too hard to fit on, but by '97 things are probably too complicated to do it easilly.
I can’t see where that would save you anything, in fact the added weight would reduce mileage, not to mention you would need to recover the cost of the tank and installation.
Check to see if there was an optional factory tank available for your vehicle…
A couple of five gallon cans would be much cheaper. Fill the cans when gas price is low and keep it in the garage/shed. Then put it into your tank when you’re running low.
The added weight of more fuel and the larger tank would make your overall fuel economy worse. Your logic escapes me.
Since gasoline does “go bad”, this may not be a good idea if one is planning on holding it for an extended period of time.
Well considering the “extended period” for the OP was just using up the fuel in a larger tank, I would hardly worry about gas in a can going bad in that amount of time.
Find an inexpensive gas station on a normal route. I found one on the way to work. I save 10 to 15 cents a gallon buying at this store compared to the gas stations around my home. I pass by it twice a day.
As well as finding a cheaper gas station, it is really helpful to have a credit card that gives a rebate on your gas purchase. It is not difficult to find a card that gives a 5% rebate on gas purchases.
Some of these include the Shell Credit Card and the BP Credit Card, although you have to buy the stated brand in order to get that rebate. On the other hand, the American Express Blue Cash Card gives that rebate on any brand of gas, as well as on any purchases in a supermarket and in a drug store. I get a very nice check each year as a result of this rebate.
