Belt Slippage

We have a 2000 Chrysler Voyager and every time it rains hard and water splashes up into the engine, the main engine belt comes off. We have replaced it, adjusted the pulleys, etc, but it keeps falling off.

Help!!!

Is there an idler? Possibly weak?

Contact you local dealer about a TSB that addresses this problem. There’s a shield kit that’s installed that prevents water from getting in between the pulley and the belt. What happens is, when water gets between the pulley and the belt, it causes a hydraulic action that lifts the belt off the pulley, and then belt gets thrown off.

Sounds like there’s a rain shield missing somewhere. There shouldn’t be that much water splashing up into the engine compartment.
