Audi Q7 Transmission Issues – Rough Shifting & Hesitation

Hey everyone,

I own a 2017 Audi Q7 3.0T with about 100,000 miles, and I’ve been experiencing some transmission issues lately. The problem started with rough shifting between 2nd and 3rd gear, especially when accelerating slowly. It also hesitates when downshifting, making city driving a bit frustrating.

I’ve already tried:

Checking for software updates at the dealership (they said no updates were available).
Transmission fluid change (helped a little, but issue persists).
Scanning for codes – no error codes present.

Some people mentioned that the ZF 8-speed transmission in these vehicles is prone to valve body issues. Has anyone dealt with a similar issue? Could it be a TCU adaptation reset that’s needed, or is it something mechanical?

Would love to hear your thoughts before I commit to expensive repairs. Thanks in advance!

Have you checked Audi forums, and other makes that use that transmission?

The link below shows a list of other vehicles that use the ZF 8HP transmission. It’s probably the 8HP 95 since other Audis of that generation. Page down to see the second generation list for other makes using the ZF 8HP 95.
