At the parade today

The official NYC Imperial Phaeton parade car was on display today. Under the skin, it’s a custom-made 1952 Imperial, with a 331 c.i. hemi under the hood. In 1956, Chrysler rebodied it with updated body panels. Unfortunately, these were the best pics that I could find of today’s outing.

This is a better view, from a different day.

This is how it looked originally, before Chrysler re-bodied it.

And, here is a nice article, with more pics and some history:

Was Bill Bradley there?

I don’t think so, because the local news did a video interview with him at his home, right before the parade began. He’s now 82 years old, and he looks every bit of those years. My guess is that he opted to stay home.

He’s definitely one of the most impressive former Knicks, imo

He was also an excellent US Senator!

Yeah, that’s one of the reasons he’s particularly impressive, as I see it

Whereas his teammate Phil Jackson eventually became one of the greatest coaches ever, Bill Bradley served the public

Was Phil Jackson there?

Might be kind of weird, as he’s now probably more closely associated with the Bulls and Lakers

Maybe, maybe most, professional athletes have fond feelings for their first team. Especially in this case. He played 12 or so years with the Knicks and was on two championship teams. His playing career allowed him to become an assistant coach and then move to head coaching. If he had the time and is well enough to travel, I imagine that Jackson would have been very happy to attend the celebration.
