I purchased raybestos wheel cylinders for my rear drums on a 2015 Toyota Corolla. The OEM ones were over $60 each where the raybestos was $17. I am mainly concerned about leaking. As anyone had experience with raybestos wheel cylinders? Part number is WC370207. Thanks
Long time since I replaced drum wheel cylinders, but I’d have no problem with Raybestos, assuming they’re legit, not fake.
They are from rock auto. The oem has lasted 180,000 miles and I am replacing the rear drums and shoes and hardware. I would want these raybestos to last another 180,000
Toyota doesn’t make brake components. They purchase them from a supplier.

Did they come in a Raybestos box? If so, no problem. Counterfeits are likely to be in a white box. I would not expect white box specials from RockAuto though.
Are they leaking?? If not, leave them alone…
Raybestos use to (they still may) sell different levels of brake parts. The ones sold by Adap and Pep-boys were NOT the same level of Raybestos of brake parts sold by other (higher tier) auto parts stores.
Ehh, I dunno. Those wheel cylinders have 180,000 miles of muck sitting in them. Changing the shoes and banging those pistons back and forth, those cup seals are likely to pick up some of that sludge and start leaking soon after. I wouldn’t take that chance, especially how cheap even OEM cylinders are.
I’ve generally found Raybestos parts to be okay
Good point, but we took care of a fleet of Corolla’s up to 500,000 miles with many brake jobs and never replaced a wheel cylinder, mine was around 180K with OE wheel cylinders and no sign of seepage…
Heck, I would like to see the shoes, do they even need replacing?? lol… My daughters Corolla still has the OEM front and rear brakes with over 105K miles on them, I’m guessing they will still be OK at 150K at the rate they are wearing…
I know one thing, I WILL be going back with Toyota (better) brakes from a dealer…
How about Wagner ThermoQuiet?
I had dinner with a field rep with Federal Mogul a few months ago and asked him what happened with ThermoQuiet, because for years they were all I used and then suddenly they started making noise like crazy. Turns out one of their overseas suppliers that provided one of the compounds they used in their pad construction went bankrupt overnight and closed down immediately. They were unable to find another source quickly, and that’s when the pad composition changed.
Supposedly the issue is fixed now, but the damage is already done.
I’ve sworn off Wagner Thermo “quiet” . . . as I’ve mentioned several times on this forum they’ve caused me no end of grief
We stock them at work for certain applications
Interestingly, I believe we didn’t have noise complaints with Wagner Severe Duty
This is one of the things that makes stuff so tricky these days. With all of the subcontracting buying car parts is, to borrow from Forest Gump, “like a box of chocolates. You never know what you’re going to get.”
I don’t want to overstate it - I still trust “old” trustworthy brands over others (and that includes Raybestos). But those are just “brands” - the name printed on the box. And I think most with good names try to maintain quality. But they often don’t know what’s happening and/or can’t control what’s going on in their whole supply chain. And it can change on a dime.
As to a direct response to the OP - I’ve used Raybestos brake parts many times without any problems. If you do get a “tiered” offering (cheapest / middle-cost / highest cost) - go with the middle.
