I JUST BOUGHT A 2000 OLDSMOBILE ALERO AND THE STEREO READS LOC OND THE SCREEN AND WILL NOT TURN ON,PLAY C.D’S ETC. CAN ANYONE TELL ME WHAT MIGHT BE WRONG?
GM stereos used a code to lock out the stereo as a theft protection system. Google “gm stereo unlock” for instructions on how to unlock the stereo. Here’s a sample site. The Owner’s Manual (if you have it) will provide more info.
I have the same setup on a 2000 Blazer, I’ve never set a code to lock the stereo and have not had any problems.

Hint: Loose the ALL CAPS. It makes reading your message more difficult. There is a reason you don’t see newspapers and books using ALL CAPS.
The radio may also be locked if it is not the original radio to the car. Most newer GM radios have to be re-programed with a dealer scanner(tech 2) if they are installed into a different car.
