My sister’s clutch has started going, and she took it into the repair shop. She’s has called a few different places, but is getting estimates for 1500-3200. Two questions, 1. are we getting ripped off, and 2. Is it even worth it to repair it at this point.

Answers.

  1. I doubt everyone in your area is looking to rip you off. Have you checked with some independent transmission shops? Stay away from the chain shops, like AAMCO or Cottman. Keep looking for a better deal.

  2. This is your decision. What is the condition of the car otherwise? If it runs good and looks good, a replacement car will cost you much more that this clutch job. If this is one of a series of expensive repairs, you may want to consider letting it go.
