we have a 2001 F250 that when we go over 45 mph a noise like a 4 seater plane deafens us, from under the hood. 4 new tires a few months ago. any ideas?
Rev up the engine in neutral and see if you hear the noise. If so, there is a bearing failure in the air conditioning compressor clutch, the idler pulley, the alternator, etc. If not, then you have something associated with the movement of the vehicle. I would bet on a wheel bearing in this case.
the noise isn’t happening with reving in nuetral, so most likely what you said, the wheel bearing. Off to the shop tomorrow. Thanks so much for your response!
