I have a 1999 Chevy Cavalier. For the last several weeks my A/C has been acting weird. I suspect the compressor but wanted to check other opinions. Some times the air will run for a bit and then it quits blowing cold air and sometimes it won’t come on at all. Any other thoughts or am I on the right track with the compressor?
This can happen if the AC system is low on refrigerant. Take it to a shop that does AC repair, and ask them to connect a set of manifold gauges to the system to check the state of charge of the system.

Don’t try to figure it out. Unless you have the tools and skills the only way you are going to find out is to take it to an good A/C shop. Look for a local (non-chain) shop that does A/C and likely radiator repair.
This could be one of many things. It could even be something innocuous as a loose electrical connection. You need a professional diagnosis.
