Your post leads to believe you have not kept up with the sophistication of modern climate control systems. What evidence would you present to the Service Advisor that the car needs a blower motor? are you simply going to walk up and say “this is my best guess”.
The Spectra system is on the lower end of sophistication but you will be quickly left wondering what to do with a more sophisticated system that does not work correctly after you had rapped and tapped and tugged on things. These simple tests don’t cut it anymore these days. Walk up and say you need more diagnosis time when the answer already exists in a TSB and you will find the advisors be they dealer or independant do not want their customers cars going to you. I always helped my advisor out by laying the ground work for him to sell what the car needs,if the all the advisor can say is"this is what my guy thinks" he will not be very happy with you.I do not need to “lay odds” on how these systems get diagnosied as I have been the one doing it.
Letting you know, the car does have a BCM and an airconditioning module that both have an effect on how and when the fan runs. It is not like a 60’s car, hardly any of them are any more. My schematic does not say exactly what the connection is just that there is an aircond input to the BCM and output from the aircon module out to the fan.
You’re still drunk, I think. I never said the car needed a new blower motor. Nor am I in the dark about the “sophistication” of today’s cars. You apparently don’t read what people post. You just start spewing out nonsense - saying nothing and referring to nothing.
“the car does have a BCM and an airconditioning module that both have an effect on how and when the fan runs…My schematic does not say exactly what the connection is just that there is an aircond input to the BCM and output from the aircon module out to the fan.”
Excellent - fine stuff. Stuff that maybe the OP could have used about 2 days ago when s/he posted. Too bad you were too busy trying to play the big expert man insulting other people to actually try to help the OP. But why bother to post anything at all? Once you believe that even problems as simple as a blower require TSBs and scanning the BCM there is still nothing left to be said but “take it to the dealer.”
So just type up your one stock response: “Modern cars are just too sophisticated. There’s nothing you can do but take it to the dealer’s service department.” Copy and paste it into every post where someone has a problem with their car. It will save you a lot of time.
In the meantime a bunch of other people on the boards will actually help people out.
You mean to say you did not know the car had a BCM and an air conditioning module? By 2004 even cheapo cars like the Spectra had these controls.
No that’s not what I said at all. I simply made it painfully obvious that you are mysteriously spending your time making off-hand cryptic and insulting remarks at others rather than helping people with car issues. If you thought that the involvement of the BCM/ACM was going to be necessary for the OP to understand then you should have explained to the OP what you thought s/he needed to know. Perhaps I should say it again - you have nothing to teach me. When I responded to the post I was not responding based on any lack of knowledge.
But I don’t know why I’m even typing again. Its been a “pleasure” oldschool. Reminds of the last time I tried to have a conversation with a block of wood. Of course, the block of wood appeared to me to be more thoughtful and less rude. I actually feel pretty secure in saying that you are the CarTalk board’s resident troll.
If I said to scan the system and it did not have a BCM to scan you really would not get too far, would you now? Have you ever even just taken a look at what is offered through a scan of a car of today?
Certainly if a car has and airconditing module and if the BCM is tied to it, it can be the source of the trouble. One major part of accurate diagnosis is knowing the system your are working with,if you are not familar with the system that is where having a manual comes in handy. It is bad to assume that every system works the way that the one system you have rudimentary understanding of works.
